Local Market Experience: Florence Street Food Tour
HIGHLIGHTS
MORE INFORMATION

You will meet your licensed, local guide under the arcade of the beautiful Loggia del Pesce and walk the bustling streets of Sant’ Ambrogio to the oldest and most lively food market in Florence. We pickup some fresh strawberries from our favorite fruit-vendor and then introduce you to the proprietors of our first official stop. You will hear directly from these wonderful artisans before sampling the very best olive oil and balsamic vinegar, followed by their famous crostini. The perfect way to wake up your appetite and excite your palate. Next, we visit the brother & sister team who run the most delicious cheese stall. They will explain the context of the three local cheeses that we taste with truffle-honey, and pair with a glass of locally produced white wine. Onto the biggest stop of the day, as we sit right beside the market stall outside, and we’re served cured meats, vegetables and red wine. While you feast, your guide will briefly disappear and return with a treat, the first of your two desserts: Almond dipping biscuits (cantucci) with sweet vinsanto wine! A short walk out of the market and on to one of Florence’s most highly rated street food locations to sample one more local speciality: Coccoli with creamy stracchino cheese and the finest Tuscan prosciutto. At this point you will be quite full, but it’s time to activate the reserve “gelato stomach”! On this thoughtfully curated food tour, we have tried to stay away from the more classic dishes like pasta and pizza to give you a unique window into the best of the local cuisine, but we all agree that gelato can never be cliché.
