History of Paris Walking Tour with Notre Dame, Latin Quarter, and Île de la Cité
TOUR DESCRIPTION

Skip the Line Sainte Chapelle, Conciergerie and Notre Dame Tour
Join us as we visit 3 incredible Parisian landmarks, all conveniently located in the historical heart of the city. Sainte-Chapelle, the Conciergerie, and Notre Dame Cathedral await you on Ile-de-la-Cité. We’ll begin with skip-the-line access to the chapel of Sainte-Chapelle, one of Paris’ hidden gems.
Originally commissioned by Louis IX to be a home for the Crown of Thorns, Sainte-Chapelle was built in the Flamboyant Gothic style in just 7 years. You will have the chance to see the ‘Jewel Box of Paris’ and its 1,100 stained glass windows. From there, we’ll make our way to the Conciergerie, a prison used during the French Revolution for those awaiting the guillotine. Marie Antoinette is their most famous inmate, and you can see a recreation of her cell while learning about how this building was used throughout the centuries.
Finally, we’ll enjoy a beautiful view of Notre Dame, France’s greatest example of Gothic architecture. This cathedral took nearly 200 years to be completed and was the inspiration for Victor Hugo’s famous novel The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Your guide will lead you through the amazing history of this church, including the 2019 fire, and fill you in on what’s being done to restore it now.
