If there is one thing more beautiful than Florence by day, it is Florence by night. Our Night Bike Tour takes a mostly different route to our day tour, focusing on the scandals, intrigue and power plays that carved out the city’s reputation as the epicenter of the renaissance world. You’ll see the streets, neighborhoods, and sites that nurtured the likes of Botticelli and Michelangelo and learn about how the all-powerful Medici family nurtured and transformed the city. As well as the sites of the town center, we’ll cross the River Arno to experience the scenes of the Santo Spirito neighborhood where locals like to eat, drink, and be merry late into the night. All of this adventure deserves a break, so we’ll make our way down to beautiful riverside beach where you can enjoy a glass or two of local Tuscan wine. You’ll also hear some great insider tips from your world-class guide. The views, the sites, and fascinating stories are waiting for you, and we cannot wait to show you this beautiful city at sunset.
Join us for one of the most incredible ways to see the city of Florence – by riding a bike through sunset and into the night. In summer, it’s the coolest time of day (in more ways than one). The Florence Night Bike Tour route is almost completely different than our Day Bike Tour. As darkness descends, we turn our focus to the intrigue and scandals involved in the mix of art, money, and power that built this beautiful city into the center of medieval trade and finance. You’ll learn the hidden history behind the birthplace of the Renaissance. Of course, no history of Florence would be complete without the famous Medici family. Our first stop is the first Medici Palace, the workplace of the young artists Michelangelo, Donatello, and Botticelli. Nicknamed the “Renaissance House”, this is where it all began. We’ll take you to some off-the-beaten-path stops that bring secret corners of this city to life as well as more famous streets, like Via de’ Tornabuoni, a paradise of boutique fashion. From there we’ll cross the river into the vibrant neighborhood of Santo Spirito (or Holy Spirit), where the restaurants overflow and diners eat and drink for hours. Next, we’ll head along the river past the famous Ponte Vecchio, through San Niccolò and the old city wall and then down to a beautiful river beach. Here we break out some local Tuscan wine, and sip it on the banks of the Arno while enjoying a truly unique view of Florence from the riverside. At the end of the evening, we’ll make our way back through the historical center, filled with new memories, sights, and the relaxed beauty that is the Renaissance City at night.
We guarantee sanitized equipment (bikes and helmet) before and after each use. We have masks available for guests as well as hand sanitizer, and we do our best to maintain social distancing while on tour.
The tour meets at Via dei Cimatori 9R, 50122 Florence. Please be advised that there is not great mobile phone reception in and around our office, so screenshots of the walking directions can be helpful.
We've created this tour to be a perfect activity for those looking to maintain a leisurely pace while exploring the city. Fun and safety go hand in hand, so being able to ride a bike is paramount. Intermediate bike riders will find this tour enjoyable and relaxing. Intermediate for us means that you should have good balance, be able to start and stop comfortably, and be familiar with hand brakes. Most of this tour is on roads and although we stick together as a group and carve out a lane for ourselves, we ask that all guests feel confident with their riding ability. The road surfaces in Florence vary and may include cobbled streets as well as smooth gravel and pavement. Safety is our number one priority but confidence in yourself is the first step to overall group safety. If you're not sure how you'll fare, we invite you to come to our office about 30 minutes prior to your tour start time to try the bikes.
Yes! This bike tour is a wonderful way for kids comfortable on bikes to discover Florence. We only ask that your children have been riding for a while, are comfortable riding in a group, and can navigate riding a bike on various surfaces including cobbled streets. Please keep in mind that children under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult on the tour. We have various sized city bikes to accommodate just about every size of rider, from extra small 20 inch wheeled bikes for riders that are 3.3ft (100cm) to extra large for riders up to 6.5ft (198cm). Unfortunately, we do not have tricycles, tandems, or bikes with training wheels for adults or children that may be less confident in their riding ability. Due to limited availability, please book 20” and 24” wheeled bikes in advance. Please Note: All extra small 20 inch and small 24 inch bikes are equipped with hand brakes.

If you opt for a private tour, please note that your tour must be cancelled or rebooked at least 7 days in advance of the activity start time. Failure to cancel a reservation at least 7 days prior to scheduled departure may result in forfeited travel funds. Reschedulings are subject to availability.
Unfortunately, our Florence Night Bike Tour isn't long enough to give us the proper amount of time needed to enter any of the sites that we see on tour. This tour is designed to enjoy the city from a broad perspective and explore the shift from daytime to evening. We hope that our guests come away with a greater understanding of its history and layout, and we're happy to give you more information on how to visit the interior of museums and monuments later in your trip.
Our tours run rain or shine, and we have rain ponchos available in our office free of cost. We encourage all guests to consult the weather forecast and plan your dress accordingly. In the summer months, please prepare for the heat by bringing/wearing adequate sun protection, and staying hydrated. Even if you are accustomed to high temperatures, air-conditioning is not always available in Italy.
Helmets are provided, however in Italy adults are not compelled by law to wear a helmet. We have helmets of all sizes available in our office. Studies have shown that helmets can reduce head injuries by at least 85%.
Pregnant women are strongly discouraged from joining bike tours due to cobbled streets.
