GARDEN DISTRICT & CEMETERY BIKE TOUR
Cruise through the Garden District and Explore the Famous Cemeteries
TOUR DESCRIPTION

Soak in the history of this fabled area of New Orleans lined with grand antebellum mansions, boutiques, quaint coffee shops and intricate gardens. This tour is a must-do for anyone looking to understand the rich culture of New Orleans and explore the Garden District.

We'll begin the tour either outside Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 or the St. Joseph's Cemetery, depending on which is open. At both, you will learn about the Creole burial traditions, which you will notice throughout the city of New Orleans. This is one of the unique cities in America where gravesite customs have not changed since their inception.

We'll then make our way towards the area that has captured the hearts of countless writers, filmmakers, and travelers for centuries, and you'll get a taste of old-fashioned life in the South around every corner. Your tour guide will point out residences listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including the home where Mark Twain is said to have visited and many more. Our guides will share with you fascinating stories and facts about the unique architecture and the lives lived of those whose grave sites we'll visit. We will also include the lovely Magazine Street, where you will certainly want to save some free time to explore on your own. Our guides will provide you with their favorite recommendations for bars and restaurants here, and then we'll make our way back to our shop to round out the tour.

Which cemeteries will we see?

When open, we love to visit Lafayette Cemetery as it's one of the largest and most popular cemeteries in New Orleans. Due to recent restrictions, this cemetery may not be open during your visit, but we're happy to visit St. Joseph's cemetery in its place. St. Joseph's is quite unique and has the same burial methods of the more toured cemeteries. We'll also stop by Lafayette Cemetery to peek in from the gates if its closed.

Is water included?

Yes! We're happy to include a free bottle of water for every guest, but we also recommend bringing your own as it gets very hot in the Big Easy. There is a place on the bikes to secure your bottle(s) so that you don't have to worry about carrying them.

How many people will be on this tour?

We limit group sizes at 8 guests/guide to ensure safety and a small-group feel.

Is a helmet included?

While helmets are not mandatory in New Orleans, we have them free of charge in multiple sizes.
